New Moon Italy Set

Director Chris Weitz shared some photos of the set  from the Twilight Saga: New Moon in his own photobook.

Montepulciano Set
We will be using the town of Montepulciano to serve as Volterra. We scouted about ten Italian hilltowns, and Montepulciano offered the best combination of beauty, age, change in height (you can see rolling fields below from the alleys running up to the main square, etc.) and symmetry that satisfied my obsessive qualities. Why not finish off this roundup with a little Italian scenery:

This is the clock tower of the main square of Montepulciano. Directly underneath is where Edward intends to reveal himself to the crowd. The cafe on the very right of the shot was THE hangout for Twi-fans who went to Montepulciano -- people would sit up there and order coffees for the whole day to get a close look at filming! This is what Bella sees as she finishes her run upwards and arrives at the square:

In other words, she sort of ascends through a series of alley ways and streets to the square itself. Here is a shot from the top of the clock tower itself, showing the square from above which, like the throng of visitors to the festival, also happens to be red –

To the upper right, you can see the corner that Bella turns as per the previous photo; and past that, green hills below…

MTV Eclipse Cheat Sheet

Waiting for Eclipse huh? This is the newish update about the film and casts.

Let the Race Begin
Summit Entertainment made headlines in February when it announced the release date of "Eclipse" as June 30, less than a year after "New Moon." At the time, the accelerated pace seemed a bit risky, but fans were cautiously pleased that Edward, Bella and the rest wouldn't be aging half-decades at a time between films. Taylor Lautner promised a "darker" film, Kristen Stewart said the love triangle will be further intensified, Rob promised that Bella will be treacherous in the flick, and the Cullens themselves are looking forward to kicking some ass.

Flashing Back

One of the most eagerly anticipated aspects of "Eclipse" is the multiple flashbacks we'll be seeing of Dr. Carlisle Cullen recruiting his "family" as they were set to die decades ago in human form. Jackson Rathbone might have the meatiest backstory as Jasper, and he has filmed scenes where he's riding horses on the Civil War battlefield, learning lessons that will help the family in battle against Victoria. Oscar nominee Catalina Sandino Moreno plays Maria, the vampire who bites Jasper. Meanwhile, Jack Huston has filmed his scenes as Royce King II, a.k.a. the Scumbag Who Nearly Kills Rosalie, and Nikki Reed can't wait for fans to witness her tragic backstory. An eager Slade recently celebrated the film's wrap by leaking the first official photo.

Murphy's Law
Former Bauhaus singer and "Godfather of Goth" Peter Murphy has filmed a key cameo for the third film, an appearance that delighted fan Billy Burke. When we spoke with Melissa Rosenberg recently, she further explained that the cameo sets up the love/hate relationship between the Cullens and the Quileute wolves.

Here Come the Newbies
Among the new stars onboard are Kirsten Prout as Lucy, Boo Boo Stewart as Seth Clearwater, Xavier Samuel as Riley and so many others. At this rate, the cast of the saga might soon outnumber the audience.

Switching Out Stars
Unfortunately, one of the sad things about "New Moon" is that fans spent the weekend watching Rachelle Lefevre's final scenes as Victoria, a character who drives much of "Eclipse." Summit made big news when they announced that Bryce Dallas Howard would be replacing Lefevre. The "stunned" fan favorite went public with her anger over being dismissed. The studio shot back by saying it was "disappointed" in the actress, fans expressed outrage and things became relatively quiet. Lefevre was noticeably absent from the "New Moon" premiere last week, blaming it on a sick dog and claiming she was "too emotional" to attend. We can only hope the drama in "Eclipse" is half as compelling as what has happened behind the scenes.

EW Discusses Edward's Attire

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: Anyone who’s listened to the Twilight DVD commentary knows that Robert Pattinson wasn’t a fan of Edward’s pea coat.

TISH MONAGHAN: He wasn’t a fan of the pea coat. He wore it in virtually every scene, and I think maybe he just got tired of it. I’m guessing. [Laughs] He just wanted a more mature look. That was part of Edward’s Grade 11 year, and now he’s getting into his graduation year, he’s in a relationship. He had worn hoodies and jeans and sneakers, and Robert, the director [Chris Weitz], and I all wanted to portray him more as a gentleman, more elegant and classic. With our vampire characters, I always went back to the time period in which they were turned to see if there’s any element I could try to simulate in contemporary clothing. He came out of the Edwardian period, around 1910. Of course, most of the gentleman from that time would be wearing suits, coats, hats, etc. We had to pick something that was iconic for the character that would suffice to be used throughout the whole film. At the very beginning of the film, he has one school outfit, and then there’s Bella’s birthday party and disaster strikes. So Edward ends up in that same costume for the remainder of the film. I was thinking of just putting him in a dress shirt and a pair of pants, but Robert wanted to be in a suit.

So I found a modern contemporary look that would be appealing to him and to the massive fan base, a very slim cut, and a fabric that to me was a bit Old World — this beautiful tweed fabric that we got out of England. It had the gray base, which is kind of essential for the Cullen characters in their cool tones, but also had little interesting flecks of blue, which is also Cullen, and a tiny little bit of rust, which I liked because Bella wears earth tones and that kinda linked her into the picture. The general texture of the suit would hold up well no matter what setting he was in: Inside the house for the party, or in the forest, or in the Volturi chamber. We had to show wear on the suit, and it’s much easier to rough up something that has texture to it than just a flat piece of wool. His pants are worn at the knees, they’re rumpled.

I don’t know if anyone’s looking at his pants when he removes his shirt in Italy.
The fans were very excited to see that, I don’t know if Robert was particularly excited to perform that in front of 1,500 people. I think it was quite hard for him to do. We originally tested Edward in a plain white shirt, as a forlorn-looking option. That is also what Robert wanted — he wanted something that would wash him out. But you need to have a color that makes you pop, and so we actually dyed the fabric this beautiful ink blue ourselves. It highlighted his vampire white skin really well. I think it’s a great moment when we see him in these clothes that he’s worn from September to May. When he goes to sacrifice himself, he’s in disrepair. Robert and Chris wanted his shirt to have a rip across the chest, so that’s what we gave him. It’s really kind of tragic to watch him take off his shirt, because he really is sacrificing himself. It looks like he’s just giving up. He’s exposing himself and he’s completely vulnerable, and he just takes his shirt off and he drops it at his feet with his eyes downcast. Then he gets attacked by Bella, who shoves him inside the doors. [Laughs] I don’t find it like a beefcake moment. It really is a moving moment, and I think Robert did a really amazing job for that scene.

The tear across the chest was to symbolize that his heart was torn out when he thought he lost Bella?
Maybe. [Laughs] They just said, “Rip it across the chest.” I said, “Are you sure? No shirt’s gonna rip like this.” And they said, “Yes.” So I did it.

Why couldn’t he remain shirtless for the indoor fight scene? Why put on the robe?
Originally, the guards who grab him were supposed to be coming from the outside — that’s why they give him the robe. But the setting was changed, and they grab him on the inside. So why do they hand him this robe? Because, quite honestly, it looks very cool fighting with this long, flowing garment, and it does hide pads, protect him.

EW Switching Teams: New Moon Poll

'New Moon' polls: Switching teams? Bella really the best role model?

Before the release of New Moon, nearly 8,000 PopWatch readers voted in our “Team Edward or Team Jacob” poll, with 62 percent being emphatically Team Edward. As promised, we’re doing a post-premiere poll to find out if Jacob’s onscreen transformation — and the pain Edward put Bella through — has earned the werewolf any points. Vote again after the jump.

A more interesting question has turned out to be whether Bella is really the best role model in the film. We’re flashing a giant SPOILER ALERT here so we can have an open discussion. Let’s be clear: It’s not a question of abstaining from premarital sex, should you still be living in a time when that’s all that being a “good role model” meant. It’s about whether you would want your daughter to be so infatuated with a guy that she loses herself entirely for months when he leaves her. Of course you wouldn’t. But that doesn’t mean that it doesn’t happen to young girls and women. (Let’s just hope that Twilight’s supernatural component, and the fact that Bella couldn’t talk to anyone about Edward since that would mean revealing that he’s a vamp, accounts for the supersized recovery time.)
To read more click here.
By the way the photo below is the cover of Entertainment Weekly which will come out on the 4th December. You can choose the cover..Of course it's always been Team Edward!!

Thoughts on New Moon

New Moon was finally out. I have said about having mixed feelings and others must have felt the same. If you read the book several times and watched trailers hundred times it's a weird feeling as you get to watch the film. Well in my case it was.
However I am truly delighted to see Edward and Bella. Afterall they are my modern Romeo and Juliet. Many would have sided Jacob but still Edward rules. There are some questions in my head that were hanging around before and after watching the film I'm glad they were answered. Some of them were about this set of photos.
Photobucket
This photo of Edward is so pretty . One taken at the meadow in Bella's dream.
Photobucket
I was wondering what the image in her dream would be and it's quite surreal the way it was shown in the film. The photo below is my favorite. I didn't know where this was taken but this was shown in Alice's vision of Bella becoming one of them. Nice..
's

I must admit it was a bit of a slow pacing plot. However we have to understand that New Moon is only a part of a big story and it can't stand alone as a film by itself. All I could say is Stewart did a great job in depicting Edward's absence. The pain was excruciating that even I who watched it felt it in my bones. Whatever the reviews would be still this won't waver my loyalty to the Twilight Saga.

ET Rob Interview

ET has kept us updated with latest interviews of the New Moon casts and a sneek preview of behind the scene clips. Here are some of the videos and the current one of Rob Pattinson just click here.

Rob Pattinson E! Interview

I could certainly see New Moon in the horizon. Since I couldn't go to the gig in London on Wednesday (that's definite) due to family concerns I decided to just wait for the UK premiere. With the build up to the official screening dates we get to see hundreds of interviews from everywhere and guest appearances from the casts. The recent one I found was the E Online Interview of Robert Pattinson.. Check this out.

Things are getting weird for Robert Pattinson.
But considering he's starring as high school vampire Edward Cullen in the movie adaptation of Stephenie Meyer’s best-selling young adult novel, Twilight, that's probably to be expected.
Still, just last week the 22-year-old British actor was at an Apple store in New York City when a 7-year-old girl asked to take a photo with him. No big deal, right? More.

Meet the Volturi

Since we are about to watch New Moon in a few weeks time. Let's get to know the Volturi and their interesting family.
Photobucket
Leaders
Aro, Caius and Marcus are the leaders of the Volturi. They command the Volturi's guard and act as representatives when dealing with other covens. Aro has the ability to read every thought a human or vampire ever had simply by making physical contact with them. Marcus has the ability to sense relationships, as demonstrated in New Moon. Unlike Aro and Marcus, Caius is not gifted.

Aro
Caius
Marcus

The Wives
Mates of the Volturi leaders. The wives are also powerful figures of authority, but only go to trials with their husbands on behalf of extremely important matters, not leaving Volterra but once every few centuries. Didyme had the power to make an aura of happiness, similar to Jasper's gift. Unlike Didyme, Sulpicia and Athenodora are not gifted.

Athenodora (Caius' mate)
Sulpicia (Aro's mate)
Didyme (Marcus's deceased mate)
The Guard

Jane- a high ranking member of the Volturi
Demetri and Felix important members of the Guard
The Volturi Guard is a group of vampires with powerful gifts. The Volturi has been shown to invite only vampires with incredibly powerful gifts that the leaders of the coven see as useful to ensuring that their authority amongst the other covens goes unchallenged. When a vampire is invited into the Volturi, he or she is forced to feel content about joining due to Chelsea's gift to manipulate the emotional bonds of others, usually guaranteeing a swift initiation into the group. Felix and Santiago are the only two ungifted Volturi guards.

The members are as follows:

Afton-unknown talent
Alec-sensory paralysis
Chelsea-relationship manipulation (cannot manipulate emotional ties as easily, eg. Bella and Edward)
Corin-unknown talent
Demetri-tracking sense (known as the greatest tracker in the world)
Felix - (assuming) immense strength
Heidi-unknown talent
Jane-illusion of pain
Renata-protective shield (can form a mental force field to avoid physical attacks, her power is quite similar to Bella's ability to create mental shields to avoid mental attacks.)
Santiago

Former Members

Eleazar: A former member of the Volturi. He was invited into the coven because Aro thought his ability to see the gifts and potential gifts of others was useful for when the Volturi scouted for new members. He resigned after meeting his spouse, Carmen, and joined the Denali Coven.

Didyme: Marcus' wife and Aro's sister. She was murdered by Aro when she and Marcus began to discuss leaving the Volturi.

Other Gianna (Human secretary)

Gianna is only mentioned in New Moon. She had hopes to become a vampire also but Stephenie Meyer has said that Gianna did not survive and was instead killed to sustain the Volturi. There are supposedly more unnamed Volturi and also numerous witnesses, but they are not named in the books.

Desired Members

Carlisle Cullen: Stayed with the coven as a guest. Though he didn't have a special talent that the Volturi saw as useful, they still enjoyed his company. He left due to his reverence of human life, and created his own coven in the United States.

Edward Cullen: Invited several times by the Volturi because of his ability to read minds at a distance. He declined.

Bella Cullen: Aro was impressed with Bella's ability to block mental powers when she was still human. He invited her to join the Volturi when she was still human, and again when she had been turned into a vampire. She declined both times.

Alice Cullen: Invited by the Volturi due to her precognitive powers. She declined. Edward said that Aro never wanted anything more than Alice's powers.

Benjamin: A member of the Egyptian Coven with the ability to physically control the elements. He was offered a place with the Volturi at the confrontation in Breaking Dawn. He declined.

Zafrina: A member of the Amazon Coven with the ability to project illusions into the minds of others. She was offered a place with the Volturi at the confrontation in Breaking Dawn. She declined.

Kate: A member of the Denali Coven with the ability to shock others with an electric current on her skin. She was offered a spot with the Volturi at the confrontation that took place in Breaking Dawn. She, like the rest who were offered, declined.

Renesmee Cullen: Since Renesmee is one of the few half-human vampires in the world, the Cullens assumed that Aro would want her in his "collection." However, while Aro was intrigued by her, an offer for her to join the Volturi was never made.

Shape-Shifters of La Push: During Renesmee's "trial", Aro saw memories of the Cullens' interactions with the La Push wolves. Thinking the Cullens had somehow tamed the wolves to be their pets, he was intrigued by the idea of the wolves working for him as guard dogs. The wolves snarled in response, effectively putting an end to that line of thinking.

Prologue

Let me welcome you to the Twilighter's Meadow. Why the name? First I consider myself a Twilighter hopping from one latest Twilight craze to another. The meadow for me is such a sweet word. A tranquil place for Bella and Edward where most of the great memories including the sad ones were created. I thought this space is appropriate for any news, updates, trailers, etc. about the entire saga for people who also admire them.

In reality I don't know how long I'm going to stay in this madness whether this is due to my impulsive sort of musing but we'll see how far I'd go from here. Hope you'll enjoy your visit.
